The purpose of this is to notify you that Hampshire County Council, working in partnership with Hart District Council, intend to carry out the above scheme to provide gateway features and improved pedestrian crossing facilities in the village. Rocon Contractors Ltd have recently been appointed to carry out the works which is due to start week commencing 7 December 2015 for approximately five weeks.
The scheme consists of providing a new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing points on Beacon Hill Road adjacent to the footpath from Haig Lane and one on Aldershot Road to the west of the junction with Grove Road. The existing speed limit signs on both roads will be replaced with new Gateway features.
To provide for a safe working there will be a temporary daytime road closure of Beacon Hill Road between 09.00hr and 16.00hr to allow for a new traffic island to be installed safely and speedily, with a diversion route along Sandy Lane and Aldershot Road. It is planned to install the road closure for one week commencing 7 December 2015 to minimise disruption. Work will then move to the Aldershot Road site, where the crossing will be installed under temporary traffic lights. The site will then be cleared for the Christmas period and any outstanding works, such as road marking or traffic signs, will be completed in early January 2016.
During construction, pedestrian access will be maintained on both sides of Beacon Hill Road and Aldershot Road. However, access to footways may sometimes be restricted and, therefore, it is advisable to leave additional time for your journeys. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by the works, but assure you that every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.
