Sandy Lane Road Closure notice from 21st November for up to three weeks. Hampshire County Council, working in partnership with Hart District Council, will be undertaking works to install two speed tables on Sandy Lane at the existing crossing points near the junctions with Tweseldown Road and Oakwood. The speed tables will provide safer crossing facilities for children attending the local schools and help to reduce traffic speeds along Sandy Lane.
The works will take place between 09.00 and 16.30, Mondays to Fridays, starting on 21 November 2016, and should take three weeks to complete. Due to the restricted width of Sandy Lane, it will be necessary for the contractor, Rocon Contractors Ltd, to close the road temporarily to carry out the works; however, it is unlikely that the closure will be in place for the whole three-week period. The contractor is aware of the congestion on this section of Sandy Lane especially at school drop-off and pick-up times. The works are subject to Restricted Hours working between 09.00 and 16.30, so the drop-off time will be avoided. The contractor has advised that he will also reduce working or stop work whenever possible to accommodate the pick-up time each day. Road closures are necessary to install the speed tables because the lane is too narrow to allow safe working. However, the contractor only needs the closure for a few days to install the tables, and would remove the closure before pick-up time. The closure will certainly not be required for the whole 3 week construction period. It is hoped that the work will be completed within 2 weeks if there are no unforeseen problems. Map
