Recreation in Church Crookham

Church Crookham is enclosed on almost every side by protected common lands, which neatly border the village on three sides and are available for walking and mountain biking. The one conjoined boundary is with Fleet, a town which offers just enough shopping to be useful but is not too busy. The Basingstoke Canal passes through the parish and Tweseldown Racecourse is just outside the Parish. Within the Parish we have a number of public open spaces and recreation facilities including the Peter Driver Sports Ground, Azalea Park, play parks at Azalea Park, Hightrees and Quetta Park, Chesilton Woods, an allotment site and SANGS land. In the next few years additional facilities will be made available within the new Crookham Park development these will include further play parks, a community orchard, an athletics area, a multi-use games area and tennis courts

The Sangs Project

The SANGS Project is the name given to the work, currently in progress, to bring a large area of former MOD land, back into recreational use for the local community of Church Crookham and surrounding area. The site covers over 400 acres – that’s equivalent to 266 football pitches – so there’s going to be a lot more space for everyone in the community to explore and enjoy. This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to get involved in all that this enormous natural space has to offer. Find out more about The SANGS Project
